Pamukkale is a town in western Turkey known for its rich mineral waters flowing down white terraces on a nearby hillside. It is located close to Hierapolis. This was an ancient Roman spa city founded around 190 B.C. Ruins there include a well preserved amphi-theatre and a necropolis that stretches for 2km. In addition to this, there is an Antique Pool that is famous for its submerged Roman columns.

Pamukkale is definitely not a tourist trap. It is an incredible natural wonder that is worth the visit. And it’s not too expensive either, as with one ticket you get access to the travertines and Hierapolis. What a great experience to do these magnificant wonders on the same day.

The top thing to do within the ancient site is to enjoy the hot spring pool. The dazzling white calcite cliffs was created by calcium deposits from the region’s hot springs. In the same way that stalactites form within caves, the deposits grow on the steep slopes. Pamukkale means “cotton castle,” and the blinding white colours look like a bizarre natural fortress.

Finally, whatever you choose to do in Turkey, it will be a unique and memorable experience of a lifetime, with a Guides4me guide, who will look after you and by the end of the trip you’ve made a best friend.
